Stage one: the High School Bursary
Investec’s High School Bursary supports talented learners in Grades 10 to 12. The bursary mainly removes a financial barrier for learners who might otherwise leave school early or attend under-resourced schools that limit their results. Because the bursary supports school-level study rather than a particular degree, it carries no employment or work-back obligation. Investec wants strong learners to reach matric with results that open doors, whatever path they choose.
Stage two: the Tertiary Bursary Programme
Investec runs a separate Tertiary Bursary Programme for university study in partnership with StudyTrust. The tertiary bursary pays a full year of study-related costs at a time and adds mentoring and job-search support to help students move into careers.
The 2027 tertiary bursary is open and closes on 30 September 2026, and Investec does not consider late applications.
How to research Investec’s programmes
Parents of Grade 9 and 10 learners should look at the High School Bursary’s current requirements on Investec’s website, including which schools and grades qualify. University applicants should check StudyTrust’s listing for the tertiary programme, which sets out fields, marks and documents.

Investec’s two stages also mean a learner could receive the High School Bursary and later apply for the tertiary programme, although each award has its own selection process. Families should keep records of school results from Grade 10 onwards for both applications.
