Roots in the PSG Group

PSG’s history is tied to PSG Group, the Stellenbosch investment holding company founded by Jannie Mouton, which built interests in financial services, education and agriculture. PSG Konsult, the financial services business, grew within that group and later became PSG Financial Services, now a separately listed company.

Three specialist divisions

PSG Wealth offers wealth management, estate planning, fiduciary services, employee benefits and multi-managed investments. PSG Insure provides personal, commercial and specialist insurance by partnering with leading insurers, and helps clients with claims. PSG Asset Management runs local unit trusts and international funds using a bottom-up, research-driven approach with a strong focus on risk management.

PSG says it has the largest adviser network in South Africa and Namibia, with 270 adviser offices across Southern Africa. In July 2025, Global Credit Rating Company upgraded PSG’s long-term credit rating to AA-(ZA). PSG Wealth Financial Planning was named Santam’s National Broker of the Year for Personal Lines in the 2025 financial year, and the PSG Equity Fund was a joint winner at the Profile Unit Trust Awards.

A bursary for final-year and postgraduate students

PSG’s bursary funds students in their final undergraduate year or a postgraduate year in actuarial science, computer science, mathematical science, computer, mechanical and electrical engineering, and insurance, risk and investment management. The bursary is all-inclusive, covering registration, tuition, accommodation and allowances for textbooks, meals and monthly costs, and leads to a place on PSG’s graduate internship programme.

PSG’s graduate programme combines work-readiness and soft skills training with hands-on experience, and pairs each graduate with a dedicated mentor. Applications for 2027 are open on the PSG CareerFocus portal and close on 20 December 2026.

How to research PSG

Read PSG’s latest results and think about how technology is changing financial advice, since PSG describes itself as a financial technology firm. Engineering and computer science students should explain why a financial services career interests them.
