Langeberg Local Municipality

Langeberg Local Municipality serves a largely rural, agriculture-dependent stretch of the Breede River valley in the Cape Winelands, best known for fruit and wine farming. Langeberg was formed by combining the former town councils of Ashton, Bonnievale, Montagu, McGregor and Robertson, and the municipality’s seat is in Ashton.

Langeberg Municipality funds a small annual student bursary as part of its workforce planning and local economic development strategy, according to a provider record checked in August 2026. The fields Langeberg has advertised include civil engineering, town planning, building and construction management, water purification, administration, auditing, integrated development planning, performance management and finance.

Those fields track closely onto the technical and administrative posts a municipality struggles to fill and keep, especially civil engineers, town planners and water and wastewater process controllers. By part-funding local students, Langeberg tries to grow its own future pool of qualified staff.
