Growing what matters
RCL Foods’ purpose is summed up in its slogan, “We grow what matters”: serving people’s needs, creating opportunities for employment and growth, and strengthening communities and the environment. RCL Foods’ sustainability strategy commits it to responsibly produced and sourced goods that support food security, and to a timely transition to a net-zero, waste-free economy.
The Do More Foundation
In 2017 RCL Foods founded the Do More Foundation as a separate non-profit, reflecting what it calls a “CSI unusual” approach focused on long-term impact. The Foundation supports the wellbeing of children from birth to five years in under-served communities, bringing public, private and non-profit partners together on nutrition, early learning and support for parents and caregivers.
A strong skills record
RCL Foods has registered more than 400 employees on SETA-accredited apprenticeships or learnerships. RCL Foods was certified a Top Employer from 2020 to 2024, won the 2024 GIBS Learning and Development Excellence Award and AgriSETA’s 2024 Leading Employer: Skills Development award, and was among the first companies recognised for taking part in the Youth Employment Service (YES) programme. RCL Foods also runs a graduate programme for recent university graduates.
Bursaries and learnerships
RCL Foods runs both a bursary scheme and SETA-accredited learnerships, including the Supreme Siyabhaka Academy baking learnership, designed as a feeder pipeline into its workforce, according to a provider record checked in August 2026. RCL Foods includes learnership placements for people living with disabilities. RCL Foods describes bursary completion as opening an opportunity for employment rather than a guaranteed job or a strict work-back requirement. BursariesAfrica’s older RCL Foods guide has not been refreshed with verified 2027 fields or dates.
