Sasol publishes its financial results for a year that ends on 30 June, and its 2026 annual reports went out after the year ended 30 June 2026. The group mines coal, refines fuels and makes chemicals, with its best-known South African operations at Secunda and Sasolburg. Sasol also sponsors the long-running Sasol New Signatures art competition, which Johannesburg artist Sphumelele Zondi won in 2026.

Why Sasol runs a bursary programme

Sasol’s student careers page explains the programme in business terms. The company says talent is scarce in South Africa and globally, and it calls the bursary programme a critical talent lever for meeting its strategic and transformation objectives. Sasol describes the scheme as talent-based, which means selection rests on ability rather than on need alone.

The same page warns applicants about numbers. Sasol decides how many bursaries to award each year according to business need, so a strong applicant can miss out in a year when the company needs fewer graduates in a particular field. Sasol handles every application electronically, which lets the company track applications received within each window.

Three routes into Sasol funding for 2027

Students often treat Sasol as one bursary, but three separate rounds ran for 2027 study. The main Sasol bursary opened on 1 April 2026 and closed on 17 May 2026, with results due by the end of September 2026. The Sasol Foundation bursary ran from 1 to 23 August 2026. The CSIR and the Sasol Foundation jointly ran a third bursary, which closed on 15 September 2026 through the CSIR’s portal.

Sasol beyond South Africa

Sasol also recruits students in the United States. Sasol Chemicals America has run a paid summer internship since 2014; the company reports that 57 college students have taken part and that 32% were later hired full-time. The American business also funds endowments at colleges and universities, which Sasol counts as part of its social investment.
