Open · closes 28 February 2027 · 151 days left Latest update ↓

PSG Financial Services runs an Adviser Development Programme that hires recently qualified graduates into its adviser offices and trains them over 18 months to become financial advisers. The post is permanent from the first day, not a fixed-term internship, and PSG says no prior experience is required. PSG is recruiting for the programme now: its careers portal lists the vacancy (reference POS01851), posted on 13 August 2026, with a closing date of 28 February 2027.

This is a separate route from the PSG bursary for final-year students and from PSG’s general Graduate Programme, which PSG lists as a different entry point on the same careers page.

Eighteen months inside a PSG adviser office

Recruits join one of PSG’s adviser offices, which the vacancy puts at 255 locations nationwide; the careers page describes a footprint of more than 270 offices. According to the vacancy, the programme provides:

  • permanent employment in a PSG adviser office;
  • an 18-month training and development plan to build the knowledge and skills of an adviser;
  • on-the-job mentoring and training from established financial advisers;
  • support, coaching and monitoring from HR, regional managers and heads of divisions.

The careers page describes the longer aim: taking young professionals from entry-level advisory roles to running their own practices.

The day-to-day work

During the programme the recruit supports the office’s wealth or insurance advisers. The vacancy lists the tasks, which fall into three groups:

  • Client preparation: gathering and summarising policy information, preparing proposals and client reviews from set templates, researching products, handling new applications and quotes, and preparing investment review appointments.
  • Portfolio and policy administration: rebalancing and maintaining existing portfolios, loading new and existing business, managing policy renewals, sending monthly or quarterly statements, and keeping records of transactions.
  • Office support: managing the adviser’s diary and client appointments, answering client queries on existing business, maintaining the CRM system, meeting service-level deadlines and ensuring FAIS compliance.

Degrees and skills PSG asks for

The vacancy asks for a relevant financial qualification, preferably a completed Bachelor’s degree majoring in financial planning, investment planning, risk management, economics, accounting or business management, or an LLB. Up to two years of financial services experience helps but is not required. Applicants also need strong computer skills, especially Excel and PowerPoint, and good technical and administrative ability. PSG names customer service, business acumen, communication, time management, problem solving, attention to detail and teamwork as the competencies it assesses.

The programme is part of PSG’s employment equity plan. The careers page says it is intended for candidates from designated groups as defined in the Employment Equity Act, and the vacancy says PSG gives preference to those applicants and encourages people with disabilities to apply. PSG does not publish the salary.
