Royal Bafokeng Holdings (RBH) is the investment company of the Royal Bafokeng Nation, the community in North West whose land sits on the Merensky Reef platinum deposits. RBH manages the nation’s assets and funds education for Bafokeng youth, including an annual bursary programme for school leavers entering university.
About the Royal Bafokeng Holdings Bursary
- The 2027 programme funded the Chartered Accountant stream: a SAICA-accredited BCom Accounting or equivalent degree at a public university, from first year.
- Earlier rounds also funded engineering, information technology and other commerce degrees; check each year’s advert for the fields on offer.
- Covers tuition, accommodation, books and an allowance, with mentoring and vacation work at RBH and its investee companies.
RBH Bursary eligibility requirements
- South African citizen resident in the Royal Bafokeng Nation, North West.
- Unemployed and under 35.
- In Matric or completed Matric, with at least level 5 (60%) in Mathematics (not Mathematical Literacy or Technical Mathematics), English and Accounting.
- Accepted at a SAICA-recognised public university for first year in the funding year.
- Not funded by NSFAS or another bursary.
How to apply for the RBH Bursary
- Open the bursary notice on bafokengholdings.com and follow the Microsoft Forms link.
- Upload a certified ID not older than three months, your Grade 11 and Matric results (terms one to three), a certified Matric certificate if you have completed school, proof of university acceptance, proof of residence in the form of a Lekwalo la Kgosana from your headman, a CV and a motivation letter.
- Submit before the closing date. Only shortlisted candidates are contacted; if you have not heard by the end of August, the application was unsuccessful.
RBH Bursary closing date
31 July 2026 for 2027 (closed). Expect the end of July 2027 for 2028.
