WIPHOLD was founded in 1994 by black women to open up the economy to women. Through its Women Development Trust it funds top learners from disadvantaged schools into actuarial science, accounting, engineering and agriculture.
About the WIPHOLD Bursary
- Fields: actuarial science, agriculture, chartered accountancy and engineering.
- Covers tuition, textbooks, accommodation and a monthly stipend.
- Renewable each year based on academic performance.
WIPHOLD Bursary eligibility requirements
- South African citizen in Matric or with Matric, from a disadvantaged school.
- At least 70% for Mathematics and 70% for English.
- An overall A or B average.
- Applied to at least two universities, including the one nearest home.

Women Investment Portfolio Holdings, a South African investment company founded in 1994 by black women. Its Women Development Trust funds the bursary.
