The Banking Sector Education and Training Authority (BankSETA) funds students at public universities through its higher education funding window, and the Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT) is one of the institutions that channels this money to IT and finance students. The bursary is worth up to about R120 000 a year, but it is applied for through the university rather than directly.

Registered, or accepted, at CPUT for a qualifying IT, finance or business programme.
A good academic record and demonstrated financial need.
Not funded in full by another bursary for the same year.

How to apply for the BankSETA CPUT Bursary

Register or apply at CPUT for a qualifying programme.
Ask the CPUT financial aid or bursary office to include you in its BankSETA submission, and complete any internal form it requires.
Give the office a certified ID, proof of registration, academic transcripts, proof of household income and a CV if requested. CPUT submits the applications through the BankSETA management information system.

BankSETA CPUT Bursary closing date

Set by CPUT, usually in July or August, ahead of BankSETA’s window. No 2027 date has been published.

BankSETA had not announced its 2027 funding window when we checked. CPUT submits applications on students' behalf, and its internal cut-off has fallen in July or August in recent years, so ask CPUT's financial aid office early in the year.
