About the BankSETA CPUT Bursary for IT Students

BankSETA, the Banking Sector Education and Training Authority, supports skills development in the banking and microfinance sector in South Africa. 

CPUT is the only university of technology in the Western Cape and the largest in the province, known for applied and practical education geared toward employment readiness.

Fields of Study Funded

  • Bachelor of Science in IT
  • Bachelor of Commerce with IT specialisation
  • Scarce and critical IT-related fields

Benefits for Recipients

  • Full bursary covering tuition, textbooks, and accommodation (depending on arrangements with the university)
  • Holistic support including meal and tutorial allowances, where arranged by the university
  • Access to work-integrated learning initiatives (WIL) in IT, including SAP and practical skills programmes, funded jointly by BankSETA and CPUT

Eligibility Criteria

  • Must be registered at a public university (in this case, CPUT) and studying an approved IT qualification
  • Applicants must meet both BankSETA’s criteria and CPUT’s institutional bursary requirements
