Canyon Coal mines and exports thermal coal from operations in Mpumalanga and Gauteng, including the Phalanndwa and Hakhano collieries. Its bursary is part of the social and labour plan that comes with a mining licence, so it favours students from the communities around its mines, particularly Msukaligwa in Mpumalanga, and funds them fully through mining, environmental and commercial degrees.

  1. Request or download the application form from canyoncoal.com when the call opens.
  2. Attach a certified ID, certified Matric results or certificate, certified tertiary academic records, proof of registration or a fee statement, your parents’, guardians’ or spouse’s certified IDs, proof of income, a motivation letter and proof of residence.
  3. Email everything to gugulethu.slp@canyoncoal.com with “Canyon Coal Bursary 2027” in the subject line, before the closing date.
