Elsen Academy is a non-profit independent school in Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth). It began in 2006 in the Sunday school classrooms of St Bernadette’s Catholic Church and now teaches learners with special educational needs, including dyslexia, ADHD and autism spectrum conditions, in classes of no more than 14. Its Legacy Trust scholarship helps families who cannot afford the fees to place a child in the high school.

About the Elsen Academy Legacy Trust Scholarship

The scholarship provides financial assistance with fees at Elsen Academy’s high school, giving the learner access to:

  • Small classes of no more than 14 learners.
  • Learning support, remedial teaching and therapy.
  • The school’s academic and vocational streams from Grade 8 to Grade 12.

Whether the award covers full or partial fees, and whether it extends to books and transport, depends on the family’s need and the Trust’s funds in that year.

Eligibility requirements

  • Living in Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth).
  • Entering Grade 8, 9 or 10 in the year of the award.
  • A diagnosed special educational need, such as dyslexia, ADHD or an autism spectrum condition.
