About Beit Trust Scholarship

The Beit Trust is a longstanding educational charity that supports postgraduate studies for students from Malawi, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.

It offers joint scholarships in partnership with leading universities in the UK and South Africa.

Fields of Study Funded

  • One-year taught Master’s programmes at UK partner universities
  • Two-year taught Master’s programmes with a research component at South African partner universities

Eligibility Criteria

  1. Must be a national and permanent resident of Malawi, Zambia, or Zimbabwe
  2. Must intend to return to your country after completing studies
  3. Must hold an Honours degree (First Class or Upper Second or equivalent)
  4. You must not already be enrolled in postgraduate study
  5. Age limit: Typically under 35 years at the end of the application year
  6. Work experience is advantageous; internships and rural postings are considered for medical and veterinary applicants.

How to Apply

  • First, apply and gain admission at one or more Beit Trust Partner Universities (UK or South Africa)
  • Then submit the scholarship application online via the Beit Trust portal.
  • For South African university applicants, you may apply even if your offer is not yet confirmed—just provide course and university details in PDF form at beittrust.org.uk.

Required Documents

  1. Academic transcripts and degree certificate
  2. Offer letter from a UK partner university or a PDF list of intended South African universities and courses
  3. A signed medical certificate completed by a doctor
  4. Curriculum vitae (CV)
  5. Personal statement (about 250–500 words) explaining how your degree will benefit your country’s development
  6. A recent professional photograph (not a passport photo)
  7. Valid passport copy (valid for study duration, with blank pages)
  8. Three references (academic, character, employer)—submitted via link sent after application
