Amazon describes its culture as peculiar and curious, and Amazon’s careers pages quote founder Jeff Bezos: Amazon seeks leaders who can invent, think big, have a bias for action and deliver results for customers.

Those phrases reflect Amazon’s leadership principles, which Amazon uses in interviews. Candidates who know the principles and can give examples of each are better prepared than candidates who rely on technical skills alone.

A bursary tied to hiring

Amazon’s bursary works as a hiring pipeline as much as a bursary. The 2027 bursary opened on 1 June 2026 and closes on 30 September 2026, and Amazon does not accept late applications. Bursars should expect Amazon to consider them for roles after graduating.
