The 2027 bursary is open and closes on 30 September 2026.

Amazon’s recruitment bursary is a hiring pipeline as much as a bursary. It funds senior computing students in full, puts them through a paid summer internship, and offers the strongest performers a permanent software development engineering job. Applications for 2027 are open now, administered by StudyTrust.

About the Amazon Bursary

  • Fields: artificial intelligence, computer engineering, computer science, data science, information systems, information technology, machine learning and software engineering.
  • Covers tuition fees, stationery, books, a personal computer, accommodation in residence or private accommodation, transport and general living expenses, up to capped amounts.
  • Includes a paid summer internship, and permanent employment for successful interns.

Amazon Bursary eligibility requirements

  • South African citizen who has completed Matric.
  • Achieved and maintained at least a 65% overall average.
  • Entering the final year of a three-year degree, or the third year of a four-year degree, in 2027, and continuing to honours (NQF level 8) by the end of 2027.
  • Interested in software development engineering, able to demonstrate coding ability, and available to start permanent employment in January 2028 if offered.

How to apply for the Amazon Bursary

  1. Open the application at studytrust.org.za/amazon-recruitment-bursaries.
  2. Upload a certified South African ID and Matric certificate, certified full academic transcripts, certified proof of your parents’ or guardians’ income, death, divorce or separation certificates where applicable, certified proof of address and a head-and-shoulders profile photograph.
  3. Submit before 30 September 2026. Shortlisted applicants go through Amazon’s assessment process.
