What Element Six employees say

Element Six’s careers page lets employees describe the company in their own words. One employee joined for the personal development and training opportunities and valued working for a company that takes sustainability seriously. Another describes starting at Element Six South Africa in 2022 and feeling part of the E6 family.

A scientist describes visiting Element Six’s Global Innovation Centre and being struck by the scientific equipment and the chance to work alongside international experts in diamond synthesis. For science and engineering students, that global research connection is one of Element Six’s biggest attractions.

The Element Six bursary

Element Six has run a bursary that supports students in engineering, science and commerce fields, to develop scarce technical skills for its advanced materials business. Our Element Six bursary page has not been refreshed with 2027 dates, and BursariesAfrica could not find a current bursary call on Element Six’s website when researching this profile.

How to research Element Six opportunities

Email Element Six’s South African office and ask whether the bursary will run for 2027, which fields it will fund and whether bursars complete vacation work at the Springs site. Ask as well about graduate programmes and internships, which Element Six may advertise separately.

Learn about synthetic diamond before applying. Element Six grows diamond using high-pressure, high-temperature and chemical vapour deposition methods, and its materials end up in oil and gas drilling tools, mining equipment, machining and electronics. A chemistry, physics, metallurgy or mechanical engineering student who can connect their studies to those processes stands out.

Because the bursary’s status is unconfirmed, apply to other engineering and science funders in the same year.

Element Six’s Springs site sits in Ekurhuleni, close to universities and universities of technology in Johannesburg and Pretoria, so students from those institutions can ask their faculties about vacation work at the site.

See our Science Bursaries page for other research-focused funders.
