The Exness Fintech Scholarship at UCT

Exness launched the Exness Fintech Scholarship Programme in South Africa in 2023 in partnership with the University of Cape Town (UCT). The scholarship funds master’s-level study for academically strong students from under-resourced backgrounds, in fields such as computer science, mathematics, data science, machine learning, artificial intelligence, financial engineering and distributed ledger technology.

The scholarship has run for several intakes since its launch. Applicants deal directly with UCT’s Postgraduate Funding Office rather than with Exness, because the scholarship is a social investment partnership rather than a financial product.

Things to understand before applying

Applying for the scholarship has nothing to do with opening a trading account, and no legitimate scholarship requires you to trade or deposit money. Online trading of leveraged products carries a high risk of loss, and students should keep the scholarship and any trading offers completely separate.

How to research the scholarship

Start with UCT’s Postgraduate Funding Office. Ask whether the Exness Fintech Scholarship is available for the coming year, which master’s programmes it covers, what it pays and when applications close. Apply for admission to the relevant UCT master’s programme at the same time, since the scholarship depends on admission.
