Four business segments

Motus integrates four segments: Import and Distribution, Retail and Rental, Mobility Solutions, and Aftermarket Parts. Motus is the exclusive South African importer of Hyundai, Kia, Renault and Mitsubishi, and its retail network includes about 539 outlets and agencies. In the 2024 financial year Motus retailed about 82 000 new and 85 000 pre-owned vehicles.

Motus employs over 20 000 people globally, with more than 15 000 in South Africa. Motus Holdings was previously part of Imperial Holdings, and Ockert Janse van Rensburg, formerly Motus’s chief financial officer, became group CEO on 1 November 2024. Motus released its results for the year ended 30 June 2026 on 2 September 2026.

What Mobility Solutions does

Motus Mobility Solutions develops, manages and administers vehicle-related financial products and services for about 700 000 vehicle owners in South Africa. The division also provides fleet management, telemetry and business process outsourcing through technology and call centres, and drives group-wide innovation in fintech and data. That data-heavy work explains why the bursary targets analytical fields.

A bursary for proven students

Motus restricts its bursary to students who have completed their first year, because Motus wants to fund students who have already handled university pressure rather than rely on Matric results alone. For 2027, students entering second, third or fourth year need an overall average of at least 70% in actuarial science, computer science, software engineering, electrical or industrial engineering, mathematical sciences, or statistics and data science.

The bursary covers tuition, residence fees in full or part and textbooks, with vacation work and consideration for Motus’s graduate programme. Applications close on 30 September 2026, and interviews run in October and November.
