Three segments

Omnia works across agriculture, mining and chemicals, supported by 44 manufacturing, blending and packaging facilities. In agriculture, Omnia supplies granular, liquid and specialty fertilisers, and supports farmers through its Nutriology model and AgriBio products. In mining, Omnia’s BME business includes BME Blasting Solutions, which makes bulk emulsion explosives and initiation systems, and BME Metallurgy, which supplies mining chemicals. Protea Chemicals is a leading chemical distributor and manufacturer in South Africa.

Omnia describes its purpose as enriching lives by ensuring food, water and mineral security, using resources efficiently and reducing environmental impact.

Life at Omnia

Omnia offers learnerships and apprenticeships, leadership programmes for staff, onsite occupational health services and an Employee Assistance Programme with counsellors and financial planning advice. Omnia says it wants a workforce as diverse as the communities where it operates.

The Omnia Future Fund bursary

Omnia runs its bursary programme as part of its corporate social investment, through the Omnia Future Fund. The Omnia STEM Tertiary Bursary funds full-time degree study at South African universities in mechanical engineering, computer engineering and software development, chemical engineering and chemistry, and agricultural science; diplomas and higher certificates are not funded. The bursary covers tuition and related costs, with vacation work at Omnia’s operations. Omnia runs a separate bursary for employees’ children.

The last published advert required at least 65%, including pure Mathematics and Physical Science for matriculants. The provider record, checked in August 2026, found no compulsory work-back described, though graduates form a natural recruitment pool. The round usually closes around 15 January, so expect the 2027 portal to open late in 2026.
