What Pyrotec makes
Pyrotec manufactures on-pack promotional and informational labels, leaflets, folding cartons and inserts, and supplies coding, marking and labelling equipment with consumables and technical support through Pyrotec PackMark. Pyrotec also builds smart factory software for serialisation, aggregation, RFID and traceability, which helps manufacturers meet compliance rules and fight counterfeiting. Pyrotec engineers custom conveyors, feeders and checkweighers, and offers financing and rental so customers can acquire production equipment.
Pyrotec’s customers include food, beverage and pharmaceutical manufacturers. Pyrotec says six decades of experience mean its recommendations are grounded in what works on real production lines.
Where Pyrotec operates
Pyrotec’s headquarters and factory are in Capricorn Park, Muizenberg, Cape Town, with facilities in the Western Cape, Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal, the Eastern Cape and Mpumalanga. Distributors in Zimbabwe, Zambia and Botswana and representatives in Eswatini, Angola, Lesotho, Namibia and Mozambique extend Pyrotec’s reach.
People and transformation
Pyrotec is a Level 3 B-BBEE contributor with more than 140 employees, and says it prefers previously disadvantaged and BEE candidates. Pyrotec focuses its social responsibility on previously disadvantaged communities in its operating areas, because it believes education and skills are crucial to Africa’s growth.
The Pyrotec bursary
The Pyrotec Bursary Programme funds study from NQF level 4 to NQF level 10, covering registration, tuition, textbooks up to R5 000, accommodation and transport. Fields include architecture, engineering, finance, human resources, IT, natural science, quality and regulatory professions, and business management. Applications are restricted to affirmative action and employment equity candidates, and no fixed work-back period is published. The 2026 cycle closed on 30 January 2026.

Because Pyrotec funds levels from NQF 4 upwards, the bursary can suit TVET students and working adults as well as university students, which is unusual among company bursaries.
