The South African Institute of Electrical Engineers is the country’s professional body for electrical engineers. Its bursary funds students in electrical, electronic and computer engineering, with preference for women, and asks no work-back in return.

SAIEE Bursary eligibility requirements

South African citizen or permanent resident accepted at a South African university or university of technology.
Matriculants: at least 70% for Mathematics and Physical Science, and 65% for English.
Current students: at least 60% for all modules.
Preference for women with strong results and financial need; total bursaries may not exceed R150 000 a year.

How to apply for the SAIEE Bursary

Download the application form from the bursaries page on saiee.org.za.
Attach a certified ID, Matric results, proof of acceptance, academic records, parents’ proof of income and a declaration of other funding.
Submit as the form directs before 30 October 2026.

Listed as 30 October 2026 for the 2027 academic year.
