Bushbuckridge Municipality Bursary 2027: How to Apply

Bushbuckridge Local Municipality in Mpumalanga, on the edge of the Kruger National Park, is one of the largest and poorest municipalities in the country. Its bursary funds young residents from indigent families to study scarce skills at universities, universities of technology and TVET colleges, and is one of the few sources of tertiary funding in the area.

About the Bushbuckridge Local Municipality Bursary

The bursary contributes to registration and tuition for full-time study in fields the municipality considers scarce or critical, including:

  • Accounting, auditing, financial management, economics and statistics.
  • Engineering, architecture, quantity surveying, and urban and regional planning.
  • Computer science and information technology.
  • Law and public management.
  • Agriculture, chemistry and water management.
  • Communication, social science, development studies, tourism management and youth development.

Amounts are not published and depend on the number of successful applicants and the municipal budget.

Bushbuckridge Bursary eligibility requirements

  • South African citizen under 35 living within Bushbuckridge Local Municipality.
  • From a disadvantaged or indigent family, with proof of household income.
  • Completed Matric, or in Matric with results that qualify you for the chosen course.
  • Accepted, or registered, for full-time study at an accredited higher education institution in one of the fields above.
  • Preference for first-time entrants to tertiary study.

How to apply for the Bushbuckridge Bursary

  1. Collect the application form from the municipal head office, R533 Graskop Road, Bushbuckridge, or from your nearest municipal regional office, or download it from the bursaries section of bushbuckridge.gov.za.
  2. Attach certified copies of: your ID or birth certificate; your Matric certificate or statement of results; proof of registration or acceptance from the institution; proof of household income and a letter confirming indigent status; proof of residence; and proof of disability if applicable.
  3. Hand-deliver the application to the head office or the nearest regional office before the closing date. Applications by email or fax are not accepted.

The last confirmed closing date was 26 January 2024. Expect the 2027 round to close in late January 2027.
