The 2027 round opened on 1 June 2026 and closed on 31 July 2026.
The Schauenburg group makes mining safety, monitoring and electronics equipment in South Africa, and its education trust funds engineering and commerce students at four universities in and around Gauteng. The bursary starts from second year and covers everything from fees to a living allowance.
About the Schauenburg Education Trust Bursary
- Fields: BSc and BEng degrees in electrical and electronic engineering, and BCom degrees in business administration and business management.
- Universities: the University of Pretoria, the University of Johannesburg, North-West University’s Vanderbijlpark campus and the University of the Witwatersrand.
- Covers tuition, registration and examination fees paid directly to the university, plus an accommodation allowance matching single-room hostel rates, a textbook allowance and a living allowance.
Eligibility requirements
- Black South African citizen as defined in the B-BBEE legislation, who has completed Matric.
- Entering second, third or fourth year at one of the four listed universities.
- Good academic progress, with all registered courses passed.
- No other bursary funding. Preference goes to women, applicants under 35 and students with disabilities.
How to apply
- Open the education trust page at schauenburg.co.za when applications open in June.
- Upload a certified ID and Matric certificate, an academic record with your recent results on the university’s letterhead, a motivation letter of no more than 800 words on your financial need, and proof of your parents’ or guardians’ household income.
- Submit online before the closing date. Only shortlisted applicants are contacted.
Closing date
31 July 2026 for the 2027 academic year (closed). Expect the end of July 2027 for 2028.
