Steve Tshwete Local Municipality, which governs Middelburg, Mhluzi, Hendrina and Kwazamokuhle in Mpumalanga, runs an external bursary for residents who want to study the engineering, planning, finance and legal fields the municipality needs. It sits within the Nkangala District, which runs its own separate bursary.
About the Steve Tshwete Municipality Bursary
- Fields: chemical, civil, electrical, mechanical and mining engineering; environmental and development studies; financial management and accounting; ICT; law; media studies; town planning; architecture; real estate; and quantity surveying.
- Covers tuition according to the institution’s fee structure and, subject to the budget, accommodation, meals, learning materials and a monthly stipend.
- For full-time study at a public university, university of technology or TVET college.
Steve Tshwete Bursary eligibility requirements
- South African citizen aged 18 to 35, living in the Steve Tshwete municipal area (MP313).
- In Matric or completed Matric, and admitted to a public tertiary institution.
- Combined household income of no more than R350 000 a year.
- Not receiving another bursary.
How to apply for the Steve Tshwete Bursary
- Download the application form from stlm.gov.za or collect it from the Civic Centre when the advert appears.
- Attach a certified ID, your academic records, the institution’s admission letter, a motivation letter, your parents’ or guardians’ certified IDs and proof of household income.
- Hand-deliver the application to the Office of the Director: Human Resources, ground floor, Civic Centre, corner of Walter Sisulu Street and Wanderers Avenue, Middelburg, before the closing date. Emailed and faxed applications are not accepted.
