VerifiedThales is a French multinational working in aerospace, defence, transport and digital security, and it has been in South Africa for more than 40 years, absorbing the digital security company Gemalto in 2019. Its Southern Africa bursaries funded computer science students and Black women in any degree, followed by an internship at the company.
About the Thales Southern Africa Bursaries
- Computer Science Bursary: BSc Computer Science with an IT specialisation.
- Trust Bursary: Black female students in any bachelor’s degree.
- Covered registration, tuition and examination fees, accommodation at the residence single-room rate, meals, and about R10 000 a year for books and pocket money.
- Followed by a one-year internship at Thales.
Eligibility requirements
- South African citizen, in Matric or with Matric, studying full-time at a South African university.
- At least Level 4 in English home language or Level 5 in English first additional language in Grade 11.
- At least Level 7 in Mathematics and Level 6 in Physical Science.
How it was applied for
- Applicants wrote a motivation letter.
- They attached a certified ID, Matric certificate, tertiary academic record and proof of acceptance.
- The application was emailed to the Thales HR department, naming the Computer Science Bursary or the Trust Bursary in the subject line.
Closing date
