How to Apply for NSFAS Funding Online

The NSFAS application process is entirely online and this is how to go about it:

1. Create a myNSFAS Account: Head over to the myNSFAS portal and create a profile. You’ll need a valid email address and cellphone number for registration and communication.
2. Complete the Online Application Form: Once you’re logged in, scroll to the ‘Apply’ tab and begin the application process. Fill out all the required fields accurately and ensure all the information aligns with your supporting documents.
3. Carefully review the list of required documents and upload scanned copies of each document through the myNSFAS portal.
4. Review and Submit Application: Double-check your application for accuracy and completeness before final submission.  Once satisfied, submit your application electronically.

What are the required documents for NSFAS application?

The exact documents you’ll need to submit may vary slightly depending on your circumstances. However, some general requirements include:

1. Certified copy of your ID document (birth certificate for applicants under 18)
2. Proof of income for all household members (unless a SASSA recipient)

The application window for NSFAS funding for the 2024 academic year closed on January 31, 2024.

If you missed this deadline, you’ll have to wait until the application period opens again for the 2025 academic year.
