FoodBev SETA Bursary Application Form

The application process for the FoodBev SETA Bursary is relatively straightforward. Here’s what you need to know:

    • ID document (certified copy: not older than 6 months)
    • University’s Tax Clearance Certificate
    • Proof of registration for the 2024 academic year
    • Approved research proposal (including research costs) with confirmation from the recognized tertiary institution and research topic endorsed by the supervisor. (Master’s students)
    • Approved research proposal (including research costs) with confirmation from the recognized tertiary institution. (PhD students)
    • A signed declaration of intent, progress reports and results to FoodBev SETA officials (signed by the applicant and supervisor)
  4. Submission: Completed applications, along with all supporting documents, must be submitted electronically via the Services SETA online portal.

The FoodBev SETA Bursary Requirements

To be eligible for the FoodBev SETA Bursary, you must meet the following criteria:

  1. South African citizenship: You must be a South African citizen or permanent resident.
  2. Age: You must be between 18 and 35 years old.
  3. Employment status: New working student applicants must be employed in the food and beverage sector, while new student applicants must be unemployed and intending to enroll in a relevant field of study.
  4. Field of study: Your chosen field of study must fall within the Services SETA’s designated priority areas, which include (but are not limited to) food science, biotechnology, engineering, quality assurance, and logistics.
  5. Academic performance: You must have achieved a minimum overall average of 50% in your previous academic year (if applicable).
  6. Financial need: Your total household income must be less than R600 000 per annum.

The FoodBev SETA Bursary Closing Date

The closing date for the FoodBev SETA Bursary application always falls in February of each year.
