About Barloworld Education Trust Bursary

The Barloworld Education Trust Bursary is designed to support South African students who demonstrate academic excellence and financial need. 

The bursary covers a portion of the tuition fees and accommodation costs associated with full-time undergraduate studies at accredited South African universities. 

Successful recipients will also receive a monthly stipend to assist with living expenses.

  • Industrial Engineering (BEng / BSc)
  • Mechanical Engineering (BEng / BSc)
  • Mining Engineering (BEng / BSc)
  • Marketing
  • Sales

Benefits for Recipients

  • Covers tuition, registration fees, examination fees, and prescribed textbooks
  • Accommodation may be supported in certain circumstances

Eligibility Criteria

  1. South African citizen
  2. Black student (African, Coloured, Indian, or Chinese)
  3. Completed Matric
  4. Currently studying full-time in a funded field at a recognised South African university or university of technology
  5. From a previously disadvantaged background
  6. Passed all mid-year (June–July) exams in the current year of study

  2. Certified Matric certificate
  3. Full academic record or transcript (on institution letterhead)
  4. A detailed curriculum vitae (CV)
  5. A motivational letter explaining why you deserve the bursary

Closing Date

Applications must be received by 31 July annually. Late submissions will not be accepted.
