About the KnowBe4 Women of Colour in Cybersecurity Scholarship
The KnowBe4 Women of Colour in Cybersecurity Scholarship provides financial assistance to a deserving female student of colour pursuing a degree in cybersecurity, information assurance, or a related field at a recognized South African university or college (full-time, part-time, on-campus, or online).
This one-time scholarship offers R110,000 to cover tuition fees, books, required electronics, and on-campus housing.
It’s administered by the Center for Cyber Safety and Education (ISC²).
Candidates are assessed based on three key criteria:
- Passion: Demonstrated enthusiasm and commitment to pursuing a career in cybersecurity.
- Merit: Strong academic record and potential for success in the field.
- Financial Need: Financial circumstances that justify the need for scholarship funding.
KnowBe4 Women of Colour in Cybersecurity Scholarship Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the KnowBe4 Women of Colour in Cybersecurity Scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- You must be a resident of South Africa.
- Female of Colour: This scholarship is specifically for women of colour.
- You must have completed or be currently enrolled in Matric (South African National Senior Certificate).
- You must be studying or intend to study for an undergraduate or postgraduate degree in cybersecurity, information assurance, or a similar field (PhD students are not eligible).
- You must be studying or plan to study at a recognized and accredited South African university or college.
KnowBe4 Women of Colour in Cybersecurity Scholarship Application Requirements
Interested applicants must submit a complete online application package through the designated portal.
This package typically includes the following:
- Current Transcripts: Unofficial transcripts from your current institution on official letterhead.
- Letter of Recommendation: One letter of recommendation outlining the applicant’s skills, abilities, and potential for success in cybersecurity. An academic reference is preferred but a professional reference is also acceptable.
- Curriculum Vitae (CV): A concise CV of a maximum of three pages.
- Essay Questions: Complete three essay questions within the application portal, each limited to a maximum of 250 words. These essays will address:
- Your educational and personal background, including accomplishments.
- The impact of the scholarship on your cybersecurity career path and its significance to you.
- Your inspiration for pursuing cybersecurity, what makes you a strong candidate, and your professional goals.
- Steps you plan to take after graduation to support other women pursuing cybersecurity careers.
- Any contributions you have made to cybersecurity (volunteer work, articles, etc.) and your hobbies/extracurricular activities.
