The Democratic Nursing Organisation of South Africa (DENOSA) is the leading voice for nurses and midwives in South Africa.
DENOSA is a voluntary organization that champions professional development and advocates for the rights of its over 84,000 members.
Affiliated with the Congress of South African Trade Unions (COSATU) and a member of the International Council of Nurses, DENOSA plays a role in shaping the South African nursing landscape.
About the DENOSA Bursary
The DENOSA bursary program provides financial support to dedicated nurses who are committed to furthering their education.
The bursary aims to alleviate some of the financial pressure associated with pursuing nursing studies by offering a one-time award.
It’s important to note that the bursary covers a portion of the total cost, so awardees will need to secure additional funding sources to cover remaining expenses.
Bursary recipients are eligible to reapply each year, with continued funding contingent upon satisfactory academic performance.
DENOSA Bursary Eligibility Criteria
Before applying for the DENOSA bursary, ensure you meet the following minimum requirements:
- DENOSA Membership: You must be a fully paid-up member of DENOSA for a minimum of two years preceding your application. Continued membership throughout your studies is mandatory. Further information about DENOSA membership can be found on their website.
- Nursing Qualifications: You must be a registered nurse and/or midwife.
- Work Experience: You must have completed a specific amount of approved post-basic work experience.
- Course Acceptance: You must be accepted for your chosen course of study and registered with the educational institution for the academic year.
