Hortgro Bursary Eligibility Criteria
Before applying for the Hortgro Bursary, ensure you meet the following minimum requirements:
- South African citizenship
- Completed Matric certificate OR currently enrolled in Matric
- Planning to study in 2025 towards a qualification in one of the listed fields
- Registered or planning to register at a recognized South African tertiary institution
- Meeting the admission requirements for your chosen course of study
Hortgro Bursary Application Requirements
Applications for the Hortgro Bursary are submitted online.
Shortlisted candidates may be required to submit the following supporting documents:
- Certified copies of your ID document (both sides)
- Certified copy of your Matric certificate (if completed)
- Certified copy of your latest Matric results (if currently enrolled)
- Certified copy of your latest academic record (if currently enrolled at tertiary level)
- Proof of registration at your chosen tertiary institution (on official letterhead)
- Breakdown of estimated study costs (tuition, books, accommodation)
- Certified copies of your parents’/guardians’ ID documents
- Proof of income for your parents/guardians (latest payslips or affidavit if unemployed)
- Proof of any other financial aid received (bursaries, loans) (if applicable)
- A handwritten essay outlining your career goals, aspirations within the agricultural sector, and why you deserve the bursary
