As of the latest available information, no version of this scholarship has been adapted for South African applicants.

Eligibility Requirements for the Extra Space Storage Scholarship

  1. Applicants must be legal residents of the United States.
  2. Applicants must be at least 16 years old at the time of application.
  3. Applicants must be enrolled full‑time in an accredited college or university for the upcoming Fall semester.
  4. There are separate eligibility tracks: five (5) scholarships for full‑time students at U.S. institutions, and three (3) scholarships for employees of Extra Space Storage or their immediate family members.
  5. Because this bursary is U.S.-only, South African students are not eligible under the current rules.

Application Process for the Extra Space Storage Scholarship

  1. Applicants must complete the online application form on the company’s scholarship page.
  2. Applicants must submit a 500‑800 word essay responding to the question: “How have you exhibited a commitment to inclusion and strengthening your community through work, service, or other extra‑curricular activities and how will your education help you continue this commitment during college and beyond?”
  3. Only online submissions are accepted. Mail‑in or other formats are not accepted.
  4. Applicants must ensure all materials are submitted before the closing time.

Closing Date for the Extra Space Storage Scholarship

For the 2026 application cycle, submissions opened on 8:00 a.m. (MT) April 1, 2026 and closed at 11:59 p.m. (MT) May 31, 2026.

At present, the information for the 2026 application period has not been publicly announced.
