ICMEESA Bursary Requirements

The bursary focuses on developing future engineers who will meet the statutory requirements of the South African engineering sector, particularly within the Certificated Engineer category.

  1. You must be a South African citizen.
  2. You must have completed Matric (Grade 12).
  3. You must be studying or planning to study towards a qualification in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering (Heavy Current).
  4. The qualification must lead to the eligibility for the Engineer’s Certificate of Competency (GCC).
  5. You must be enrolled at a university, university of technology, or technical college that is accredited by the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA).
  6. You must be in your second year of study or later. First-year students are generally not considered.
  7. If you are studying at a Technical College, you must have successfully passed all the qualifying N3 subjects.
  8. Preference is given to students who are children of ICMEESA members, especially those with long-standing membership.
  9. Preference is also given to students who were previous ICMEESA bursary holders and maintained a strong academic record.
