Eligibility Requirements for the Hulamin Bursary

Applicants must meet strict academic and residential criteria to be considered for this programme.

1. You must be a South African citizen.
2. You must be from a previously disadvantaged background (PDI).
3. You must be a resident in Pietermaritzburg or the surrounding area (this is a strong preference/requirement).
4. You must be currently in Matric or have completed Matric.
5. You must intend to study for a first undergraduate degree in one of the approved fields.
6. You must be accepted or registered to study at a recognised and accredited university in South Africa.
7. Matric Criteria (Engineering Degrees): A minimum B symbol (or equivalent 70%+) in Mathematics (Higher Grade), Physical Science (Higher Grade), and English.
8. Matric Criteria (Accounting Degree): A minimum B symbol (or equivalent 70%+) in Accountancy and English.

The application process requires candidates to download and complete a specific Hulamin form and submit a full package of certified documents.

1. Download Form: Locate and download the Hulamin Bursary Application Form (usually a PDF) from the Hulamin website’s Careers/Bursaries section.
2. Complete Form: Ensure the form is completed clearly and accurately, detailing all academic and personal information.
3. Motivational Statement: Include a written statement on the form or in a separate letter describing your choice of study and career path.
4. Compile Supporting Documents (Certified Copies):
   • Certified copy of your South African ID document.
   • Matric Certificate (if completed Matric) OR latest Grade 12 results (if currently in Matric).
   • Recent Academic Records/Transcripts (if currently studying at tertiary level).
   • Acceptance Letter/Proof of Registration at a recognised university.
   • A Brief Curriculum Vitae (CV) (maximum 2 pages).
