Do You Qualify?

You can apply for the Thuthuka Bursary if you:

  • Are you a South African citizen
  • Identify as Black African or Coloured
  • Are in Grade 12, or have Matric (out of school for no more than two years), or are currently studying a CA-stream BCom degree
  • Achieved at least 60% in Mathematics in Grade 11 (Maths Literacy and Technical Maths are not accepted)
  • Applied or are applying to a university offering the Thuthuka programme
  • Have a combined family income of R350 000 or less per year
  • Have written or will write the National Benchmark Tests (NBT) before August 31st, 2025

Important to Note

  • You must sign a contract with both the Thuthuka Education and Upliftment Fund (TEUF) and NSFAS
  • Thuthuka funding cannot be used to settle existing student loans or debts
  • Applicants are selected based on academic performance, NBT scores, and financial need
