About AgriSETA
AgriSETA is the Agricultural Sector Education and Training Authority in South Africa.
It partners with accredited training providers and employers to fund bursaries and skills development in the agriculture sector.
The bursary supports AgriSETA’s mission to build a skilled agricultural workforce.
Fields of Study Funded
Funding is available for South Africans pursuing full‑time or part‑time qualifications at NQF Level 6 and above, including:
- Agriculture (crop production, animal production)
- Agricultural Economics and Management
- Agronomy, Animal Production, Veterinary Science
- Agricultural Engineering, Environmental Science, Food Technology
- Agriculture-related diplomas or degrees from accredited institutions
Short courses are not funded.
Benefits for Recipients
Recipients may receive up to R39,750 per year for undergraduate study or R63,600 per year for postgraduate study.
Funding may cover tuition, textbooks, accommodation, or a stipend, depending on the provider and priority areas.
There is usually a work-back expectation with the agricultural sector, but no individual contract with AgriSETA is signed.
Eligibility Criteria
- Be a South African citizen
- Studying a full‑time or part‑time agriculture‑related qualification at NQF Level 6 or higher
- Not funded by NSFAS, other SETAs, or government bursaries
- Be unemployed at the time of application
- Under age 35
- Academic or career interest in agriculture must be clear
AgriSETA requires applications to be made by an accredited training provider or employer on your behalf—not by individuals directly
How to Apply
- Identify an accredited AgriSETA training provider or employer offering the qualification
- Request them to apply for the bursary on your behalf via the Discretionary Grant application between 1 August and 15 September
- Provide the documents listed in the next section to your provider
- When asked where you heard about bursaries, say “www.bursariesafrica.co.za.”
- Applications are submitted online through AgriSETA’s provider portal or emailed to facilitators such as [email protected] or [email protected], depending on provider instructions.
Required Documents
Your training provider will typically require:
- Certified copy of South African ID
- A certified Matric certificate or recent tertiary transcripts
- Tax Clearance Certificate and Tax Compliance Status PIN
- CV and motivational letter explaining your choice of field and financial need
- Proof of acceptance or registration at your training institution
Applications missing any item may be disqualified
Closing Date
Applications must be submitted by 15 September 2026 at 23:59 SAST through an AgriSETA-accredited provider.
Late or incomplete submissions will not be accepted.
