Alexander Forbes Bursary 2026 – Actuarial Science Support

Although the 2026 application period is not yet confirmed, Alexander Forbes awarded 15 bursaries for the 2025‑2026 cycle. 

These supported Actuarial Science students at recognised South African universities.

About the Alexander Forbes Group Holdings

Alexander Forbes Group Holdings is a major South African financial services group offering retirement, insurance, investment, and risk management solutions. They operate across Africa and beyond. 

The bursary is administered via their CSI Trust and aligned with INSETA to build actuarial talent.

Fields of Study Funded

The bursary is exclusively for BSc Actuarial Science students enrolled full-time at accredited South African universities. The award targets 2nd through Honours years.

Benefits for Recipients

Recipients receive funding that may include tuition, registration fees, textbooks, and study materials. 

The bursars also benefit from mentoring, coaching, vacation work placements, and eventual employment opportunities via the INSETA partnership. 

A work-back agreement is required upon completion.

Eligibility Criteria 

All of these requirements must be met:

  • Must be a South African citizen
  • Enrolled full-time in BSc Actuarial Science at a recognised university
  • In 2nd, 3rd, 4th, or Honours year in 2026
  • Achieved a minimum 60% average in the previous year
  • Demonstrate financial need
  • Willing to accept a work-back agreement with Alexander Forbes post-graduation
    Applicants not meeting all conditions will be disqualified.

  1. Register or log in on the Alexander Forbes careers portal (via pnet or the company site).
  2. Select the Actuarial Science bursary opportunity listed under the INSETA collaboration.
  3. When prompted where you heard about bursaries, enter “www.bursariesafrica.co.za.”
  4. Upload certified documentation as specified.
  5. Submit your application online before the confirmed deadline.

Required Documents

Prepare clear, certified copies of:

  • South African ID document
  • Full recent academic record (Matric and tertiary)
  • Proof of registration for Actuarial Science in 2026
  • Proof of financial need (income affidavit or validation)
  • Motivation letter (optional but recommended)
    Incomplete or uncertified documents may lead to disqualification.

Closing Date

The official 2026 closing date has not yet been published. 

In 2020, the deadline was 28 July, and Alexander Forbes selected 15 bursars for the 2025‑2026 award.

 Only applications submitted before the confirmed online deadline will be accepted.
