About the Programme
This initiative is run by Anglo American Platinum (AAP) in partnership with Tshikululu Social Investments.
It offers relief for South African students who have outstanding tuition debts of not older than two years and who reside in AAP host communities.
The aim is to support learners to complete their qualifications and access future opportunities.
Fields Eligible
All fields of study are eligible, as long as you:
- Completed or are completing a qualification at a public or private tertiary institution in South Africa
- Have debt relating to tuition only
Degrees, diplomas, and TVET courses all qualify.
Benefits for Recipients
Eligible students may receive relief for tuition debt up to two years old. The grant is not a loan and does not require repayment.
It enables students to finalise their studies, request certificates, and pursue employment.
Eligibility Criteria
You must meet all the following:
- South African citizen
- Reside in Anglo American Platinum host communities (e.g. Mogalakwena, Amandelbult, Mototolo, Rustenburg, Twickenham, Polokwane areas)
- Have outstanding tuition debt from studies completed or in progress, no older than two years
- Studied or are studying at a registered higher‑education institution in South Africa
- Not an employee of Anglo American Platinum
Incomplete or ineligible applicants will not be considered.
How to Apply
- Obtain the official application form during the call period via Tshikululu or Anglo American Platinum’s site.
- Complete and submit your application together with supporting documents.
- When asked, enter “www.bursariesafrica.co.za” in the field for how you heard about the bursary.
- Submit via the online platform or email to [email protected].
Required Documents
You must provide certified, legible copies of:
- South African ID document
- Proof of residence within the host community (e.g., municipal/stamp letter)
- Official academic record showing qualification completion
- Tuition statement not older than three months (on letterhead, stamped, with banking details)
Applications missing any documents may be disqualified.
Closing Date
The 2026 deadline has not yet been announced. The previous round closed on 13 September 2022 (extension to 28 October 2022).
Wait for official confirmation before applying. Late or incomplete submissions will not be accepted.
