About the Barberton Mines Bursary

Barberton Mines (Pty) Ltd is part of the esteemed Barberton Mines complex, Fairview, Consort, and Sheba, operating for over a century in Mpumalanga. 

The company is a subsidiary of Pan African Resources, which supports community education and skills development in STEM and related fields.

Eligibility Criteria

  1. Must be a South African citizen residing in the Ehlanzeni District Municipality
  2. Completion of Matric or registration/acceptance for full-time studies in a mining-related undergraduate qualification
  3. Achieve at least 60 % pass rate in all Matric subjects—or current year of study if applicable
  4. Strong communication, leadership, supervisory, and computer literacy skills
  5. Must be medically fit (with valid medical certificate within 21 days of bursary acceptance)
  6. Clean criminal record (security clearance required)

How to Apply

Submit your complete application via the Pan African Resources or Barberton Mines bursary portal when the 2026 cycle opens. 

The application likely includes fields to upload required documents.

Required Documents

  1. Certified copy of South African ID
  2. Matric certificate or full academic record and recent results (for current students)
  3. Proof of admission or acceptance into a mining-related qualification at a recognized South African tertiary institution
  4. Proof of residence (not older than 3 months)
  5. Medical fitness certificate (within 21 days of bursary acceptance)
  6. Security clearance certificate (clean criminal record)
