Fields of Study Funded
- Chartered Accountancy qualification (CA-stream) including majors in Accounting and Auditing
- Must be pursued at a SAICA-accredited university up to Honours/CTA level
Benefits for Recipients
- Covers full or partial tuition fees plus textbook allowance—the support amount varies by BDO branch
- The bursary is renewable annually, provided you maintain satisfactory academic performance
- In return, recipients must work for BDO South Africa for a period equal to the bursary duration
- Vacation work during studies may be required
Eligibility Criteria
- South African citizen
- Currently in Matric or have completed Matric, or studying toward a CA qualification
- Enrolled or planning to study at a SAICA-accredited institution (Honours/CTA level)
- Must not be receiving other bursary or scholarship tied to employment obligations
- Must not have an existing training-contract obligation with another firm
Academic performance thresholds:
Full bursary
- Matric: Minimum “B” in Mathematics (Higher Grade), “B” in English (First/Second Language), overall average of 70%
- Tertiary: Accounts I ≥ 70%, Accounts II ≥ 70%, Accounts III ≥ 65%, overall average: 1st & 2nd years ≥ 70%, 3rd year ≥ 65%
Half bursary
- Tertiary: Accounts I, II, and III ≥ 65%; overall average ≥ 65% across all years
