About the Bombela Bursary
Bombela Operating Company (BOC) manages, operates, and maintains Gautrain’s integrated public transport system across Gauteng.
The bursary is part of BOC’s commitment to developing future professionals in fields vital to transportation excellence.
Fields of Study Funded
Eligible fields for bursary support include:
- Accounting Sciences
- Engineering (Chemical, Civil, Electrical, Industrial, Mechanical)
- Environmental Science or Health & Safety
- Human Resource Management / Industrial Psychology
- Information Technology
- Marketing / Communications
- Security
- Transport / Logistics
Benefits for Recipients
- Coverage typically includes tuition, registration, examination fees, textbooks, and accommodation, with a monthly allowance.
- Bursars are required to undertake vocational or vacation work during their studies.
- Service obligation may apply upon completion.
Eligibility Criteria
You must meet all the following conditions:
- Be a South African citizen
- Be in Matric (final year) or have completed Matric in the previous year
- Be studying or planning to study full-time in an eligible field at a recognized public institution (university, university of technology, or FET college)
- Demonstrate academic merit and financial need
How to Apply
- Applications are submitted online via the official BOC bursary portal, where you must create an account and use the promotional code BOC2025-2026 during registration.
- You will upload the required documents as part of the application.
Required Documents
Prepare and upload the following:
- Certified South African ID copy
- Certified Matric results or certificate
- Proof of university registration or acceptance letter
- Academic transcripts or fee statement on institutional letterhead
Closing Date
As of September 2026, no official closing date for the 2026 bursary has been published.
In the previous cycle, the deadline was 18 January, and finalists were informed by approximately 31 January.
