The Future Managers Bursary is offered by Future Managers, a South African provider of educational materials for the TVET (Technical and Vocational Education and Training) college sector. 

The bursary aims to support students pursuing NCV (National Certificate Vocational) or Nated (Report 191) programmes at TVET colleges in certain regions. 

Future Managers Bursary Eligibility requirements 

Applicants must meet the following minimum criteria:

  1. Must be a South African citizen.
  2. Must be between 16 and 35 years old.
  3. Must reside in the Western Cape or Northern Cape region.
  4. Must be studying or intend to study full–time towards a TVET qualification: either NCV or Nated (Report 191) programmes.
  5. Must not be funded by the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) at the time of application.
  6. Must have a good academic record and a clean criminal record (no pending cases).
  7. Preference given to students from previously disadvantaged communities or with special needs (documented proof of disability required).

Application process for the Future Managers Bursary

To apply you should follow these steps (based on past cycles):

  1. Download the bursary application form from the Future Managers website or bursary portal when it becomes available.
  2. Complete the form and gather supporting documents: certified copy of ID, latest academic results, proof of registration/application for NCV or Nated programme, proof of residence in Western or Northern Cape, proof of disability if applicable, and statement that you are not funded by NSFAS.
  3. Submit your completed application and documents via email to the address specified (in past cycles: [email protected]) with subject line “Future Managers Bursary Application”.
  4. Wait for the selection process by the Future Managers Executive Management team. Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.

The last application period was the 2022 cycle which closed on 28 January 2022. The bursary has since been closed.

2. + Which qualifications are covered by this bursary? +

3. + Does the bursary cover all my costs? +
No. In the past the award covered tuition fees only and not accommodation, transport or living expenses. It is paid directly to the TVET college.

Download the application form, complete and attach supporting documents (ID, latest academic results, proof of residence, proof that you are not funded by NSFAS). Email it to the address specified (e.g., [email protected]) before the closing date.
5. + When is the closing date for 2026? +
The bursary is currently closed.
6. + Can I be already funded by NSFAS and still apply? +
No. One of the eligibility criteria is that you must not be receiving funding from NSFAS at the time of your bursary application.
7. + Can students from other provinces apply? +
Typically no. The bursary is aimed at students residing in Western Cape or Northern Cape. If you live elsewhere you should verify if the bursary terms have changed for 2026.
8. + What happens if I don’t get feedback by the closing date? +
If you are not contacted by the outreach or bursary team, you should assume your application was not successful. You may reapply the following funding cycle.
9. + Must I be in first-year of my TVET qualification? +
Not necessarily. The bursary is open to both students starting and those completing TVET studies full-time, as long as they meet the criteria.
