What is NSFAS?
NSFAS provides financial support to students from poor and working-class backgrounds. The funding covers tuition, registration fees, food, accommodation, and learning materials.
Who can apply?
If you’re a TVET college student, you can apply for NSFAS funding. You must be a South African citizen or intend to register for a PLP, NC(V), or Report 191 programme.
NSFAS Requirements For TVET College Students
- Must be a South African citizen.
- Must be registered or intending to register for a PLP, NC(V), or Report 191 programme.
- Students must comply with the N+Rule.
- Must not enrol for a qualification that duplicates previous state-funded learning
How To Apply For NSFAS
- Visit the NSFAS website: Click on the ‘myNSFAS’ tab.
- Create a myNSFAS account.
- Click on the ‘APPLY’ tab and complete the sections on the screen.
- Upload required documents where applicable.
- Click on ‘Submit’.
Take note of this information before starting your application
- Applications close on 26 July 2026.
- You must comply with the N+Rule.
- You cannot apply for a qualification that duplicates previous state-funded learning.
- Your combined gross family income must be below R350,000 annually for a bursary or R600,000 for an NSFAS loan.
