The bursary focuses on building skills for the rail, engineering, logistics, and technical industries. It forms part of Traxtion’s Future of Rail is Women campaign and aims to increase female participation in technical careers.

What Is the TraxWAGON Bursary?
TraxWAGON stands for Women’s Advancement and Growth Opportunity Network.
The bursary is designed to:
- Support women from disadvantaged backgrounds
- Promote gender balance in technical and rail-related fields
- Provide financial assistance for full-time TVET studies
It supports both classroom learning and practical skills that lead directly to employment.
Fields of Study Covered
You must study one of the following qualifications at a DHET-registered TVET College:
- Mechanical Engineering
- Electrical Engineering
- Diesel Mechanics
- Boilermaking
- Fitters and Turners
- Supply Chain and Logistics
- Warehouse and Inventory Management
Only these fields are funded.
Who Can Apply?
You must meet all the criteria below:
- Be a South African citizen and female
- Be between 18 and 35 years old
- Come from a previously disadvantaged background
- Live in one of the following provinces:
- North West
- Free State
- Mpumalanga
- Northern Cape
- Gauteng
- Have a financial need for assistance
- Have completed matric or be in your final matric year
- Have an average of at least 60% in matric
- Be accepted or registered for 2026 at a TVET College
- Study full-time in one of the listed fields
What Does the Bursary Cover?
The bursary offers full financial support, which may include:
- Tuition fees
- Prescribed learning materials
- Other approved academic costs
The exact coverage depends on Traxtion’s final approval.
Required Documents
Upload clear, certified copies of the following:
- Certified copy of your South African ID
- Matric certificate or latest school results
- Latest academic transcript (if currently studying)
- Proof of registration or acceptance at a TVET College
- Proof of residence
- Letter of recommendation from your school principal or lecturer
- Your Curriculum Vitae (CV)
Missing documents may result in disqualification.
